Second Chance Auction Animals Rescue (SCAAR)  was founded in January 2013, originally with the primary goal of helping to save the animals that found themselves the victims of the various livestock auctions within South-Western Ontario. With new laws and regulations coming into play, dogs are being banned from being sold at these auction events. This is a huge step in the right direction! We are now focused on removing dogs from high-kill/overcrowded pounds and shelters, helping these animals get the second chance at life they so badly deserve. We also take in dogs that owners can not care for anymore, SCAAR is a no judgement, all breeds and ages rescue.

With the start of our SCAAR facebook page, we quickly grew and expanded, and we are now able to frequently take in animals from many different situations, such as puppy mill dogs, kennel and owner surrenders and strays. We have also had much success in rehabilitating dogs that have found themselves on death's door, whether they be suffering from severe heartworm, are in need of urgent surgery, or have contracted parvovirus.

We are a London Ontario, Canada based rescue which is operational by volunteers and foster homes only. We do not have a shelter where we house the dogs in our care. They are all housed in the homes of our foster families, so that they are able to adjust to the life of a pet before they go to their forever homes.

As of December 2013, we have become a registered Not-For-Profit organization with the Government of Ontario. We are still in the process of becoming a Charitable Organization, and this brings us one step closer to achieving that goal.

The idea was brought together by a 12 week old shepherd cross puppy named Roxcie. She was our very first intake, and is now doing wonderfully in her forever home. Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens who come into SCAAR's care are all spayed or neutered, vetted and brought up to date on vaccines and rabies where applicable (dependent on age and vet advice) prior to adoption. They also have any other medical needs covered, such as dental work, surgeries, or heartworm treatment, depending on the needs of the individual animal.
